Our Story

At The Salty Herb, we’re on a mission to be the enemy of mediocre, flavorless food. Everything we create is rooted in bold flavor and a sense of fun.


It all started with one habanero and one jalapeño plant in our backyard. For two years, we struggled just to keep them alive—until we finally cracked the code. Suddenly, those plants exploded with incredible fruit. Two plants turned into four, then eight… and before long, herbs joined the mix. To our surprise, we figured those out too.


With our newfound green thumbs, the harvest quickly got out of hand. We could only eat or give away so much, which left us with a simple question: what do we do with all this flavor?


While experimenting with fermentation and freezing pounds of peppers, we stumbled across a habanero salt recipe—and that’s where our journey truly began.


Habanero salt came first. Then we elevated it into our Smoked Habanero Salt. Rosemary (thanks to Mrs. Goat) followed, and from there… we got a little wild.


Today, every pinch jar, shaker, and grinder we produce is packed with nature’s flavor, a bit of fun, and a touch of mischief. We make everything in small batches, infusing our salts with fresh herbs for days to capture every layer of flavor. Our smoked salts and peppers spend days in a cold smoke bath, creating that deep, rich taste. The habaneros and jalapeños are slow cold-smoked, then infused with our salts for a full week to bring it all together.
